Dear Michigan Families,

Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year! My name is Laura Lorelli, and I am the new Principal at Michigan Primary! I am so excited to be back with some of our littlest dragons!! I can’t believe this is my 26th year in education, all with Ashtabula Area City Schools. Some of you may recognize me as Miss Laura. I was just one of our amazing preschool teachers for 22 years before I transitioned into administrative roles with the district. As an administrator, I have had the privilege of working with elementary students at every grade level. Most recently, I was the assistant principal at Superior Intermediate and the Elementary Campus Special Education Supervisor. 

I am a lifelong resident of Ashtabula County. I obtained my Bachelor’s degree from Lake Erie College in the area of Early Childhood Education and my Master’s degree from Kent State University in the area of Early Childhood Intervention Specialist. Finally, I received my principal’s license from Youngstown State University. 

I am looking forward to another exciting year with Ashtabula Area City Schools. I will do my best to help your child achieve to the best of his/her ability. Our teachers will help your students learn through hands-on experiences and teach them the skills to become successful lifelong learners! I look forward to meeting all of our returning little dragons in first grade when school starts on August 25th! Our newest little dragons in kindergarten will have a staggered start. Students with last names beginning with A-L will begin school on August 27th, and those with last names beginning with M-Z will start on August 28th. All kindergarten student will have their second day of school on Monday, August 31st. I hope that all of our students at Michigan Primary and throughout the Elementary Campus have a safe, successful, and fun school year!
