Michigan Primary School

Welcome to Michigan Primary School!  We could not be more thrilled to work with your kindergarten and first grade students!

Though this will be my 27th year in education, it will be my first year as the principal at Michigan Primary School.  I can’t wait to get started!  Before becoming the principal at Michigan, I was an assistant principal at a K-5 building in Madison Local Schools, a teacher, coach, and district athletic director in Painesville City Schools, and a teacher and coach at Berea City Schools.

I grew up and went to school in Perry, Ohio.  My parents were coaches and teachers, and my mom eventually worked at the Perry Outdoor Family Center (YMCA).  My positive and engaging experiences with my parents, teachers, coaches, and the staff at the YMCA, quickly shaped my career path.  I knew very early on that I wanted to work with students, and give back to systems that were so important for me.  I taught swim lessons, was a camp counselor, became a teacher, and coached football, basketball, wrestling, and soccer.  Through those experiences, I found that I loved collaborating with and leading adults.  So, I became an athletic director and an assistant principal to help adults lead students and to positively influence as many students as I could.  Now I get to coach my two daughters and their peers in volleyball, basketball, and softball.  It’s still as rewarding to me as it always has been.  Helping students is the best! 

The motivated staff at Michigan is dedicated to helping all students be the best version of themselves each and everyday.  All students will know they are cared for, they are safe, they can overcome mistakes, they can choose to be kind, and they can learn!
